    Scale model of a massive steel casting, the base of an 8 inch upsetter forge, a special type of horizontal forge used for making bolt heads or widening the ends of pipes so they could be fit together.  This machine would have been produced circa 1940, but such machines are still in use today in forging operations worldwide.
